Foreword – Happy Holidays!
Happy holidays, everyone! Hope you guys are having a good one! I wanted to take a second to thank all of you who’ve taken the time out of your days to come read the various things I’ve been typing up here. I know my output can be erratic and haphazard, but I’m really trying to keep pace with this blog. We’ll see how long I manage to do it for, haha!
Seriously though, I really appreciate you all taking any interest in what I have to say. I feel worried sometimes that I’m oversharing, or picking games nobody cares about, but it’s really validating to see that there are people who do care about these things. Some of the comments and feedback on the more serious personal blog posts have been so thoughtful and heartfelt, I can truly say I’ve been pretty moved by some of it. Thank you all so much.
2024 was a kind of mixed year for me. Living in Japan is great and we’ve gotten to see and do so many interesting things, but game development has been rough for me and that’s been exacerbating/causing depressive waves here and there. My life is generally really great and I think I’m my own worst problem sometimes. Fortunately I’m in a bit of an upswing now, and trying to use the momentum as best I can to close out the year and the little project I’m working on now, so hopefully I can show that off soon! It’s… not a very good game, but it’s the game I can make right now, and that’s what’s important. Just have to keep plugging away at it!
Speaking of plugging away at stuff… gotta’ get that Emio article done too at some point… one day, I guess!
Here’s to a happy 2025 to us all!
-Liam
P.S.: Garden Guardian is half off on all platforms for the holidays! Not very holiday spirit of me to advertise my game here, but hey! Boy’s gotta’ eat! Check it out here: http://linktr.ee/gardenguardian
December 2024 Articles
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
tl;dr: Despite the writing and new mechanics being somewhat disappointing, Aria of Sorrow’s baseline qualities empower Dawn of Sorrow to be a fun romp with mostly top notch art and sound.
Other December 2024 Things
Matt & Liam Play: Shadow X Generations
Matt and I took a quick romp through the recently released Shadow Generations! For what first seemed to just be an elaborate side mode, it’s a surprisingly full featured Sonic game!
